HNS ANDON Call System

Overview

The ANDON system is one of the technical tools of Jidoka principle.

The essential of Jidoka principle is: make visible occurrence of problem in case of all production problems and stop the production immediately. This principle builds the quality into the product manufacturing in such a way that excludes those processes which can cause costs by possible build-in of waste.

ANDON emergency means light - and sound signal and it is one element of visual management primarily used in production. The system allows such a tool by determined places, expediently by all stations which helps the work staff with different colored light and sound signals to inform the competent professional able to solve the problem. The signals have determined meanings, so it seems immediately where the problem was arisen, and the signal color shows further information related to the problem.

All employees working at the line are obliged to signify all noticed problems with the usage of the calling unit. The ANDON with help of light and sound signals, if it operates well, is able to inform the competent colleagues that what kind of problem at which process was arisen. This light and sound signal "calls" those professionals who are able to help by problem solving.

The emergency call started on ANDON system's calling units can call the team (line) direct leader and in case of quality, material supply or maintenance call can the colleague of the field affected in the given serving.

Implementation

The implemented HNS ANDON Call System has three different parts:

  • ANDON call units (HNS CALL Stations) and a central communication unit (HNS USB-CAN), which ensures the possibility of ANDON call (emergency call sending) to employees working in production,
  • PC with HNS ANDON service program, which handles the ANDON call units and drives the visualization tools, and also ensures administrator, reporting and log functions,
  • visualization tools for displaying visual and light signals and sounding information signals.

Features and benefits

ANDON system has to be arranged and used carefully!
The usage of the system has to be human-centered and it has to respect the employees, because committed employees are necessary to avoid vulnerability.

With implementation of HNS ANDON Call System:

  • line worker can indicate his quality, material supplying or maintenance need, furthermore can call his team leader,
  • number and frequency of calls, the time need until serving start and to the serving become measureable (these data are exportable into MS Excel table),
  • automatic generated daily report files helps the executive to get information (the integrated data are illustrated on bar graphs and are visualized with numerical values),
  • activity of employees can be helped and controlled by simple and flexible configurability on different levels (problem recognition and problem-solving efficiency).

Functions for line workers and serving staff:

  • monitoring the time passed until the beginning of serving with taking back the workstation for production automatically,
  • single level access control – monitoring real time necessary until the beginning of serving and for serving – with taking back of workstation by team leader,
  • two level access control with takeover the workstation for serving and with taking back by team leader,
  • mp3 file can be played continuously or with play sound once (traditional siren or horn voice or text). The advantage of text is that it is basically not noise, so it does not confuse the concentration of employees which causes most effective and precise work.

Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery means the HNS ANDON CALL Stations and HNS USB-CAN Central Communication Unit and the HNS ANDON program (PC software).
At the most 30 calling units are implementable into one system.

In case of claim we undertake the system implementation and configuration (UTP cabling, mounting calling units, doing settings), furthermore the training.

Language support

The HNS ANDON program is supporting the Hungarian and the English languages now.
By the way all texts are in a single text file, so you can translate and adopt the system for your language.
